The 2022 Toyota 4Runner has a 4.0-liter 24-valve DOHC V-6 engine with Dual Independent Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence (VVT-i). At 5600 RPM, the powertrain generates 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque at 4400 RPM. When combined with a five-speed ECT-I, the engine performs admirably and effectively powers the 4Runner’s wheels.

How Safe is the new 4Runner?
