What Powers the 2023 Toyota GR86?
Every GR86 has a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine under the hood, producing 228 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft of torque. Although the new GR86 only has 23 horsepower more than the model from the previous generation, it accelerates to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, which is a significant improvement. The default gearbox is a six-speed manual. It has always been favorable over the automatic because it’s faster. Although the six-speed automatic adds more safety technology, it also has ineffective shift paddles. In addition, it is more economical, achieving 21/31 mpg city/highway compared to 20/27 mpg for the manual. The GR86, a two-plus-two coupe designed chiefly for enjoyment, the GR86 is enjoyable to drive no matter where you are going thanks to its excellent balance, plenty of cornering grip, quick steering, and rev-happy engine.
