The revamped 2022 Toyota Tundra has been redesigned from the ground up to be the toughest, most advanced, and most bolder-looking Tundra to date. The all-American pickup which will be assembled in San Antonio, TX, features a brand-new styling that’s sure to turn many heads.

It now flaunts a redesigned front end with a gigantic front grille and sleek sharp-looking headlights that render it an aggressive look while giving it a big truck appearance.

Powerful-Yet-Efficient V6 Powertrains

Not only that, under the hood of the 2022 Tundra is a standard 3.5L, twin-turbo, V6 i-FORCE engine that produces an impressive 389 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. of torque, all while saving more fuel than before. There’s also an upgraded hybrid i-FORCE MAX powertrain variant with a bell-housing motor that churns out a staggering 437 horses and up to 583 lb.-ft. of torque. Both the engines are more powerful and significantly efficient than the outgoing V8 of the 2021 Tundra which will be discontinued soon. The engines come mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission and you get a choice of 4×2 as well as 4×4 drivetrains.

12,000 Pound Towing Capacity

The powerful V6 engines along with redesigned high-strength boxed steel-ladder frame and a fully revamped multi-link rear suspension and rear shocks which are now mounted outside the frame rails enable the Tundra to tow up to 12,000 pounds! That’s roughly 18 percent more than what the 2021 Tundra could tow. The payload capacity has also been increased by 11 percent over the previous generation with the all-new 2022 Tundra capable of hauling up to 1,940 pounds.

The 2022 Toyota Tundra will also feature a lightweight, corrosion-resistant cargo bed made of a Sheet-Molded Composite (SMC) with reinforcing aluminum cross members which offer superior resistance against dents, dings, and rust. You can opt for either a 5.5-feet, 6.5 feet, or 8.1 feet cargo bed.

Packed with Technology

Additionally, you’ll get cloud-based navigation, Toyota Connected Services and Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity. There’s also a “panoramic view monitor” that uses cameras to display a bird’s-eye view of the truck.

Standard Toyota Sense 2.5 Safety Features

In terms of safety, the 2022 Tundra will offer standard Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 on all trims. These include an improved Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Road Sign Assist (RSA), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA).
