Learn to use the Toyota tire repair kit before you need it

How do you use the Toyota tire repair kit?

In addition to Toyota vehicles being efficient and reliable, as well as well-equipped, the automaker really goes out of its way to make its vehicles as convenient as possible to use. One of the quietly emerging trends in the automotive industry is to do away with spare tires that take up valuable cargo space and add unnecessary weight, which hampers performance and efficiency. Toyota has replaced the old donut spare with a largely self-contained repair kit. So, how do you use the Toyota tire repair kit? Our manufacturing partner produced a very handy video, which is embedded below. A few of the product experts working at the Lexington Toyota showroom wanted to share it with you as well as few important tips.

What is the Toyota tire repair kit?

As we alluded to earlier, spare tires are heavy and take up more than a fair amount of space in a vehicle. Additionally, some drivers might have the physical strength to sling a spare tire around. The Toyota tire repair kit consists of a bottle of tire sealant and a small air compressor. Both items will be packaged together and can be easily used by almost anyone.

Is this a permanent tire repair?

One of the most important things people need to know about the Toyota tire repair kit is that it is not a permanent repair. Like a spare tire, it is only meant to help get the driver and the vehicle to a place that can actually make a repair that is meant to last. Also, like a spare tire, drivers using the Toyota tire repair kit will be limited to a maximum speed of just 50 miles per hour and a maximum range of a little more than 60 miles. It is very important that you tell the people working on your tire that sealant was used.

Which Toyota vehicles use the tire repair kit?

As of right now, there are only five Toyota vehicles that employ the repair kit:

• Prius/Prius Prime
• Corolla Hatchback

• Sienna
• Mirai
