Located in Roxbury, this non-profit organization is working to promote community development and alternative transportation. They accepted donated bikes, which they ship to third-world countries and are also used locally to train the youth as bicycle mechanics.

Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless
There are several area nonprofits that are looking for donations of furniture. This nonprofit is looking for mattresses, box springs, sofas, and chairs to help the homeless. Give them a call at 781-595-7570 to schedule a pickup.
This program collects old sneakers and then grinds them up to use in the surfacing of playgrounds and athletic courts in underprivileged communities.
