Recycling programs and other sustainable organizations near Lexington, MA 

Toyota has challenged itself to become more sustainable. Some of the aspects of the challenge include eliminate CO2 emissions from their operations, minimize and optimize water usage and help create a recycling-based society. Bikes not Bombs 

Located in Roxbury, this non-profit organization is working to promote community development and alternative transportation. They accepted donated bikes, which they ship to third-world countries and are also used locally to train the youth as bicycle mechanics. 

More Than Words 

This is a non-profit bookstore that aims to empower youth who are in foster care, court-involved, homeless or out of school. To donate your books, call 781-788-0035.

Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless 

There are several area nonprofits that are looking for donations of furniture. This nonprofit is looking for mattresses, box springs, sofas, and chairs to help the homeless. Give them a call at 781-595-7570 to schedule a pickup. 

Nike’s Reuse-A-Shoe 

This program collects old sneakers and then grinds them up to use in the surfacing of playgrounds and athletic courts in underprivileged communities.
