Pickup trucks are among the most popular vehicle platforms in the United States. Of the automakers competing in the full-size pickup truck segment, Toyota is one of the few manufacturers that exclusively equips its trucks with V-8 power plants. A comparison between the 2021 Toyota Tundra vs. 2020 Toyota Tundra will show Lexington Toyota customers a few interesting things before they come to the showroom to take a test drive.
The biggest change made to the 2021 Tundra is the addition of the Trail and Nightshade editions. Tundra Trail models are equipped for dominating the outdoors and the Nightshade model will make the Tundra one of the most refined trucks in its class.

The 2021 Toyota Tundra continues the truck’s streak of being powered by a naturally aspirated 5.7-liter, V-8 engine, making 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. Versions of the truck with rear-wheel drive will be able to achieve 13 miles per gallon in the city and 18 miles per gallon on the highway. Four-wheel drive models will be able to get very similar fuel economy scores. Additionally, both the 2021 and 2020 Tundra will each be able to tow up to 10,200 pounds, when properly equipped.
Pickup trucks are built to go anywhere. The 2021 Toyota Tundra Trail Special Edition features everything it needs to take its passengers where they want to go, as comfortably as possible. It will come with a spray-on bedliner as standard equipment. Toyota has installed a pair of lockable storage compartments in its cargo bed. One of them is insulated so I can be used at a cooler for several days in the wilderness. It also features a larger 38-gallon fuel tank and front buck seats and three convenient cupholders.
Can a pickup truck be a luxury vehicle? The Nightshade Edition available with the 2021 Tundra will make a very strong case for this idea. While the Midnight Black Metallic exterior color might be the most logical choice, Lexington Toyota customers can also choose Cement, Super White (Double Cab only) and a premium option, Windchill Pearl (Crew Max only). Regardless of exterior color, the Nightshade Tundra features a darkened chrome grille, with matching black mirror caps, door handles and wheels.
