Every Toyota new crossover SUV available at Colonial Toyota can trace its ancestry back to the original Toyota Highlander that debuted about 20 years ago. Not only was the first-generation Highlander the first Toyota crossover SUV, it’s also one of the charter members of the now very popular industry segment. The 2021 Toyota Highlander in Lexington, MA is just one year removed from a major redesign. Most automakers wouldn’t make many a lot of changes for the next model year, Toyota doesn’t follow the status quo. For the new model year, the 2021 Highlander introduces the XSE trim grade that is more than just an additional set of features, it will actually provide owners with an enhanced driving experience. Independent reviews have praised the 2021 Toyota Highlander for its quiet and compliant ride qualities, excellent outward visibility and strong performance output.
Lexington Toyota customers can start the pre-ordering process for the 2021 Toyota Highlander today by calling, 781-325-8558.
Every 2021 Toyota Highlander will use the same powertrain. A 3.5-liter, V-6 engine will be under the hood that will be attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It will make 295 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque. Front- and all-wheel-drive models of the 2021 Highlander are available and all of them will have very similar fuel economy scores. Both drivetrains can return at least 20 miles per gallon in the city and up to 29 miles per gallon on the highway. Obviously, the hybrid version of the Highlander will get better fuel economy scores and it will be reviewed separately.
Just like previous versions of the Highlander, the 2021 model continues to offer three rows of seats that can hold seven or eight passengers, depending on how the interior is outfitted. The difference in seating capacity comes from a choice between second row captain’s chairs or the standard bench style seat. However, where the 2021 Toyota Highlander will really stand out is cargo space. When any 2021 Highlander is fully loaded with passengers, there will still be 16 cubic-feet of cargo space. Folding the rear seat down will make 48.4 cubic-feet of cargo space available. When the 2021 Highlander is properly configured, a maximum of 84.3 cubic-feet can be used.
There might not be a more technologically advanced crossover SUV on the market than the 2021 Toyota Highlander. Every trim grade is equipped with access to the Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ suites of applications. Compatibility with the Amazon Alexa digital home assistant is also standard. For more connectivity, the high-speed 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot is also available for opt-in if an owner would like to use it.
